"Two are better than one," says Ecclesiastes,
"because if one falls down, his friend can help him up."
I deeply desire to bring Christian comfort and the power of prayer to those who are challenged with sickness or circumstances in life. However, in this time of restricted visitation call me and I will attempt to contact them.
Please, assume that if you don’t tell us, we do not know.
Call me at 301-4956 if surgery or hospital stay is imminent or if a visit could be helpful.
Pastor Dennis
From my perspective,
Moses final will and testament calls the children of Israel to “Remember.” “You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God brought you out from there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore, the LORD your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.” (Deuteronomy 5:15, ESV)
Jesus, who was intimately connected with God the Father, kept the Sabbath day. Why shouldn’t we? Some people can talk-the-talk but when the rubber hits the road, can’t walk-the-walk. Jesus did. The sad truth is, we don’t do as well, no matter how hard we try. We need a little help, especially when life becomes filled with pain and suffering.
Therefore, you are invited to soup-and-sandwich fellowship each Wednesday in March. (4:30 at Our Savior’s and 6:00 at St. Paul) and then a time of remembering what Christ has taught us to enable us to thrive in the world. (5:30 at Our Savior’s and 7:00 at St. Paul) and Sunday worship. (8:30 at Our Savior’s and 10:30 at St. Paul) I'm giving you this information so you can find times that work with your busy schedule.
The Week of March 1st. The world teaches us to look out for #1. Jesus teaches “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.” (Matthew 5:7, ESV) and remarkably, he pardons the thief on the cross with this promise, “Today you shall be with me in paradise.” How does that work?
The Week of March 8th. The world is full of unsatisfied people who expect everything but do just enough to get by. Jesus says, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” (Matthew 5:6, ESV)
The Week of March 15th. The world is a cold place where everyone seems to think only of themselves. Jesus says, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” (Matthew 5:8, ESV)
The Week of March 22nd. The world seems to be full of unrestrained violence in word and deed. Jesus says, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.” (Matthew 5:9, NRSV)
Please make time to attend Sunday and Wednesday to rest and be refreshed in Jesus’ teaching, for surely, he not only talked the talk but walked the walk. I look forward to see you in church and remember to invite the neighbor who may need to hear the Word of Truth that Saves.
Your pastor, Dennis.
